Moving can be an overwhelming process. Trying to find ways to keep everything organized and easily accessible can be a lot to manage. So, we have a few tips and tricks for moving to make the process a bit smoother!

Tip One | Hanging Clothes

How do you keep your clothes from being damaged and stained while moving? Three words: drawstring trash bags. Inexpensive and easy, this tip is sure to keep everything clean and wrinkle-free while moving. Take 5-7 hangers with clothes and cover them with a trash bag. Use the drawstring to enclose the items in the bag. This will keep your clothes looking fresh while reducing the amount of time you spend packing your clothes.

Pro Tip: If you have long dresses or coats, tie two trash bags together!

Tip Two | Hardware Storage

Many furniture items have to be disassembled to move. Use a plastic zipper bag to keep screws and bolts together. Then, tape the bag to the furniture item or piece they belong to. This will make it easy to quickly reassemble your furniture items upon arrival without having to scavenge through multiple bags of hardware to find the right bag.

Tip Three | Moving Box

Often time items are packed by room in order to make the unloading process easy. If you have essentials such as laundry detergent or plastic plates and utensils packed away, you might have to search for them upon arrival. Instead, pack essentials away in one box. This box should go in a vehicle so it is easily accessible when needed. This makes the first few nights in your new home less stressful as you know where all your essential items are.

Pro Tip: Make sure a first aid kit is in your moving box. If someone gets injured while moving, you will want to be able to easily access first aid items without digging through boxes!

Tip Four | Moving Bag

Speaking of essentials, each family member should also pack a bag of their own personal essentials. Things like medicine, phone chargers, laptops, clothes, and toiletries. This makes the moving process way more comfortable so you don't have to go digging for things you need daily.

Tip Five | Fragile Items

Instead of purchasing bubble wrap or packing paper, use clean towels. Linens take up space when packing, so use them to your advantage. Wrap glassware and breakable items in clean towels to keep them safe while moving. This will save you money and space while packing. Not to mention it is so easy!

Tip Six | Crockpot Meals

Nobody wants to cook while moving and eating out gets really old after a few days. Here is a tip that will help you save money and still make moving easy. Prepare crock pot meals in advance and store them in the freezer. When moving week has arrived, all you need are your freezer items and a crock pot. Dump the crock pot meals in the crock pot morning and dinner will be ready on time with no effort from you!  You can find a bunch of great recipes on Pinterest!

Pro Tip: Double your recipe so that you have leftovers for lunch the next day!
